Karin van der Lans

Trademark attorney

From early on I have felt attracted by the law. During my time at High school I worked at a notary’s office, through which I eventually decided to go to Law school. Since 2005 I have been affiliated with HJF Advocaten as paralegal and in 2007 I graduated as HBO-jurist (LL.B) at The Hague University.

Due to my work within the section of intellectual property law I wrote my thesis on the enforcement and maintenance of community plant breeders’ rights. Furthermore, I have achieved my propaedeutic year Dutch Law at the University of Leiden.

By now I have gained a lot of experience at HJF Advocaten within the section of intellectual property law, wherein I have further specialised myself in trademark law. At the start of 2020, I have successfully finished the specialization training of the Benelux Association for Trademark- and Design law (BMM) and have become a member of that same Association. Furthermore, I am also a registered European trademark attorney at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Both the international aspect as well as the personal ideas and requests of our clients make this work so varied. These also ensure that I keep enthusiastic throughout it all. In addition to that, the no-nonsense-mentality of HJF Advocaten appeals to me a lot.
